When the long tentacles of jellyfish enter the body of an individual, they cause itching and pain. The venomous sting can kill fish but not human beings.

Blue bottle jellyfish are generally seen in Mumbai during the mid-monsoon season.

A shopkeeper at Juhu Beach said around 150 people had been attacked by the jellyfish in the past two days.

“The beach is full of jellyfish. Many people have been injured in the past two days. I am helping them by rubbing lemon on the stung area. I suggest that people should avoid visiting beach for now,” he said.

Locals said the jellyfish are seen on the beaches every year, but this time they could be spotted in large numbers. ANI
