Bug hunter finds flaw in Instagram, wins $30K
New Delhi: Chennai-based security researcher Laxman Muthiyah has won $30,000 as a part of a bug bounty programme after he spotted a flaw in Facebook-owned photo-sharing app Instagram. Muthiyah said the vulnerability allowed him to “hack any Instagram account without consent permission”. He discovered it was possible to take over someone’s Instagram account by triggering a password reset, requesting a recovery code, or quickly trying out possible recovery codes against the account. Instagram security teams fixed the issue and rewarded him $30,000. PTI
In Mumbai, quadricycles to ply as autorickshaws
Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government has allowed quadricycles to ply as autorickshaws and the first such vehicle hit the roads earlier this week, according to pictures released by the Mumbai Suburban Regional Transport Office (RTO). Several more quadricycles, which have been registered by the RTO, will ply in Mumbai's eastern suburbs initially before hitting the city'swestern suburbs. These quadricycles will run on CNG. TNS
Five Buddha statues vandalised in Nepal
Kathmandu: Five Buddha statues have been vandalised by unknown people near Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha in southwest Nepal, on Wednesday, the police said. The statues in sitting posture were constructed with cement, limestone and sand. Each of the statues weighed over 120 kg, they added. The Tilottama Municipality mayor, Bashudev Ghimire, said the authorities are probing the incident. PTI
