New Delhi, July 1

Moments after the CBSE today released its all-India rankings for JEE (Main)-2015, students’ queries poured over whether the board had used re-evaluated Class XII marks to compute ranks.

Several parents, many of whom wrote emails to the JEE (Main) division of the CBSE, said they feared the board had finalised the rankings on the basis of old marks, instead of the re-verified and re-evaluated marks.

One such parent who wrote to the CBSE asking which marks were used for merit computation told The Tribune that the board did not answer the query and instead said another list would be released on July 8.

“What is the use of a second list, even if that list uses the revised marks? All top engineering colleges are going to start counselling based on today’s list and it is evident that today’s rankings are based on old marks. In my child’s case, the rank has fallen by several notches just because the board has used old marks for computation,” said a parent who wrote an email enquiry to the CBSE.

Phone calls to the CBSE’s JEE division went unanswered today, with no clarity whether or not the board has used the re-corrected marks of Class XII to finalise students’ ranks.
