Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu today lashed out at the Union Government for going back on the promises made to the people of the state at the time of carving out the state of Telangana under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
Toughening his anti-BJP stance, the CM said there was no question of a compromise with the Centre and that the people were firm on their demand for implementing all promises made under the Act, besides a special economic status for the state.
“We do not celebrate the creation of Andhra (carved out of Madras State on October 1, 1953), because we are rededicated to the recreation of the state after a grave injustice by the Union Government,” he said. When the request to the PM to set right the injustice meted out to the state was ignored, he first pulled out his ministers from the NDA government and then quit it.
Naidu also address the youth of the state at a special function to launch the “Mukhyamantri Yuvanestam” programme that would initially benefit around 2.1 lakh unemployed youth by providing them with an unemployment allowance of Rs 1,000 per month besides offering them skill development programmes in industries. “We waited for the promised package for four years. It was a promise and no dole to the state... We will fight for justice at all costs,” he said.
