New Delhi, February 21
A week after the Pulwama terror attack, the Congress got back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi today accusing him of “indulging in self-promotion by way of a film shoot at Jim Corbett Park minutes after the Pulwama terror attack”.
Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said the PM continued shooting with Discovery channel chief at the Corbett after the news of killing of 40 CRPF jawans broke at 3.10 pm on February 14. “The pseudo-nationalist PM continued shooting for his self-promotion even after news of the terrible terror attack,” Surjewala said citing minute by minute detail of the PM’s programme on February 14, the day of the attack.
Surjewala flashed news clippings to say, “The PM shot his promotional film, went out of the Corbett gate later and waved at supporters who chanted Modi, Modi. He then went to a local guest house and had tea and snacks. When he returned to Delhi he first went to his residence and then came to the airport to pay tributes to soldiers whose bodies lay in state.”
The Congress said: “Never before has any PM anywhere in the world insulted the memory of martyrs the way Modi has”. He also questioned BJP chief Amit Shah for saying at a poll rally after the Pulwama attack that the sacrifice of soldiers won’t go waste because the country is in the hands of the BJP and not the Congress. — TNS
‘It’s Modi’s new India’
The brave are martyred. Their families struggle. Forty jawans give their lives… this man (Modi) has never given and only taken. He’s gifted Rs 30,000 crore… welcome to Modi’s New India. — Rahul Gandhi, Congress president
