Court attaches Zakir Naik’s properties
Mumbai, October 13
The Special National Investigation Agency Court has ordered the attachment of controversial preacher Dr Zakir Naik’s share in five Mumbai properties.
The order was issued earlier this week after the NIA filed an application seeking attachment of Dr Naik’s properties as he had not appeared before the court despite a non-bailable warrant issued against him.
The court’s orders cover the preacher’s shares in a shop measuring 1,360 sq ft in a building called Crystal Residency, two flats each in Jasmine Apartments and Maria Heights all of which are located in Mumbai’s Mazgaon area.
Dr Naik has been declared a proclaimed offender under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) after terrorists who carried out an attack in the Bangladesh capital of Dhaka two years ago. — TNS
