Court refuses to grant bal to lawyer Jahnvi Gadkar

Jahnvi Gadkar, who is accused of mowing down two persons here on June 10 in a drunken, has been denied bail. Her judicial custody has been extended till July 10.

Gadkar argued that if she were kept in jail, it would amount to pre-trial punishment.

She argued that the police should made an incident could not attract the charge of charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The police should, instead, have imposed the lesser charge under section 185 of Motor Vehicle Act that deals with drunken driving

In the early hours of June 10, an Audi driven by 25-year-old Gadkar rammed a taxi, resulting in the death of two persons, including the taxi driver, on the Eastern Freeway. — PTI
