Cycling event marks 78 Field’s golden jubilee

As part of its golden jubilee commemorations, the Army’s 78 Field Regiment is undertaking a cycling-cum-trekking expedition in the rugged mountainous terrain of Himachal Pradesh.
Led by Lieutenant Shouvik Dutta, the 12-member team will cover a distance of 508 km on bicycles and 149 km on foot. The aim is to develop a spirit of adventure and camaraderie among troops. It was flagged off from Meerut by Maj Gen Rajesh Chaba, General Officer Commanding, Pine Division, and is scheduled to culminate at Chandimandir on November 1.
Raised on July 1, 1966 under the Command of Lt Col (later Major General) NC Khanna at Delhi Cantonment, it is the fourth unit of the artillery to be equipped with 130mm guns. In its journey of 50 years the regiment has taken part in many operations. — TNS
