Mumbai, August 17
Fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim's nephew Alishah Parkar married the daughter of a city-based businessman in a traditional Muslim ceremony in Mumbai on Wednesday as police kept a close watch.
Parkar, the son of Dawood's late sister Haseena Parkar, were married at a mosque in south Mumbai’s Nagpada. Some 100 people attended the wedding ceremony that began at 11 am and lasted an hour-and-a-half.
The family steered clear of the handful of press waiting outside the mosque.
Ibrahim is likely to watch a wedding reception that will be held at a city hotel through a video call. The event is likely to be watched closely by police.
Ibrahim is India’s most wanted fugitive, currently suspected to be hiding in Pakistan. He has been accused of having engineered 13 serial blasts in Mumbai in 1993. — PTI
