The Arunachal Pradesh Government on Tuesday launched the ambitious Deen Dayal Upadhay Sawalamban Yojana (DDUSY) to help create self-employment avenues.

The scheme, conceptualised by Chief Minister Pema Khandu and approved by the state cabinet, is aimed at exploring self-employment avenues through bank finances.

The loan amount ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs one crore will be provided by bank and government as capital subsidy of 30 per cent, which will be disbursed to banks through NABARD.

The scheme will provide the much needed financial boost to the state's small and nano entrepreneurs in sectors like agriculture, horticulture, dairy development, fishery, textile and handicrafts and eco tourism.

"As the government job sector is already saturated, we need to explore self-employment avenues to help the educated unemployed youths to become self-empowered. The scheme will provide the impetus in this direction," Khandu said while launching the scheme here.

Khandu said the scheme would be implemented in all the districts through respective deputy commissioners and the government would increase the subsidy amount in due course of time and incorporate other sectors in it.

"The chief minister also inaugurated the Facebook's nationwide ‘Boost Your Business' programme to supplement the DDUSY scheme. —PTI
