Chandigarh: A major disaster management drill, Exercise Mountain Rescue, was conducted by the Army at the Annadale Ground, Shimla. It aimed at practising evacuation of civilian population from
disaster-affected areas in the remote regions of Himachal. Army Aviation Corps and Air force helicopters practiced casualty evacuation drills in conjunction with the Special Forces and regular troops from the Jutogh Battalion. TNS

10-yr RI for Park Street convicts
All three convicts in the Park Street gangrape case were on Friday sentenced to 10-year rigorous imprisonment by a sessions court, over three years after the assault on a 40-year-old mother of two teenage daughters in a moving car. Additional sessions judge Chiranjib Bhattacharya sentenced Ruman Khan, Naser Khan and Sumit Bajaj to 10-year RI with Rs 1 lakh fine each. PTI
