The Centre today withstood market pressure to further reduce the upper price limit for drug-eluting stents from Rs 29,600 to Rs 27,890.

The NPPA further notified a slight increase in the prices of bare metal stents from the previous rate cap of Rs 7,260 to the new Rs 7,660. The bare metal stent market is lower than that of the drug-eluting version, which is a drug releasing and biodegradable.
