Jaipur, November 24
The Election Commission has served show-cause notice on senior Congress leader and Nathdwara Assembly constituency candidate CP Joshi over his disputed statement on the Brahmin caste during a public meeting two days ago.
“On the direction of the CEC, a notice on CP Joshi, Congress contestant from Nathdwara constituency, has been served for alleged violation of the model code of conduct. He has been given time to reply to the EC by 11 am on November 25,” Nathdwara’s Returning Officer Nisha said.
Addressing a poll meeting at Sema village on Thursday, Joshi had allegedly questioned the credentials of Modi, Uma and Ritambhara, who are non-Brahmin, to comment on Hinduism. Joshi allegedly said that only Brahmins know about Hinduism. — OC
