Graft case: Court refuses bail to sacked IAS officer
Bhopal, January 13
The bail plea of sacked IAS officer Tinoo Joshi was today rejected by a local court after she surrendered in connection with a disproportionate assets case and sent to judicial custody.
Additional District and Sessions Judge DP Mishra turned down Tinoo’s bail plea and asked her to undergo treatment in the jail hospital, said her counsel Pratul Shandilya.
Tinoo and her husband Arvind Joshi were dismissed from service last year and are wanted in various cases but only Tinoo, who arrived on a wheelchair, surrendered before the court and applied for regular bail, while her husband is still on the run.
In his plea, Shandilya sought bail for his client Tinoo stating that she was scheduled to undergo hysterectomy (surgical removal of uterus) at the Government Medical College in Udaipur.
Shandilya told the court that if Tinoo did not get medical attention, her ailment could develop into uterus cancer. He said his client was “serious” and suffers from a heart ailment as well. Trouble began for the IAS couple after Income Tax sleuths raided their residence on February 4, 2010, and seized Rs3.04 crore in cash and foreign currency to the tune of Rs7 lakh. — PTI
