Ashok Chavan, who recently was named president of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, could face prosecution under the Prevention of Corruption Act in the Adarsh Housing Society scandal after the Bombay High Court refused relief to him today.

Justice ML Tahaliyani of the Bombay High Court refused a plea by Chavan to delete his name from the chargesheet filed in the Adarsh Housing Society scam case. “The application is dismissed. The prayer to stay the order is rejected,” he said. Chavan had filed a petition last December seeking the recall of an order passed by Justice Tahaliyani refusing the CBI the permission to drop his name from the case.
