Tirupati: Tech major HCL chairman Shiv Nadar has made an offering of Rs 1 crore and one to the Lord Venkateswara shrine, near here. After offering prayers, the HCL chairman handed over the offering in the form of a cheque. He requested the temple management to use his donation for the Sri Venkateswara Balamandir Trust, established in 1943, for orphaned and destitute children. PTI

BITS-Pilani to increase intake to 1,040

Pilani: BITS-Pilani in Rajasthan is targeting raising the students’ intake for its flagship undergraduate programme to 1,040 in the next two years and is currently carrying out a massive infrastructure upgrade on the sprawling campus. The Pilani campus of the premier institute at present takes 910 students for the undergraduate programme. PTI
