Mohali, February 21
Dr Debi P Sarkar, Director, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali, has been removed from his post by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Dr Sarkar has been directed to relinquish the post at IISER and report back to his parent institution, University of Delhi, immediately.
In the order, it has been stated that Dr Sarkar would be given a sum equivalent to the amount of his basic pay for three months in lieu of the three-month notice period.
Dr Sarkar assumed the charge at IISER on September 18, 2017. Prior to it, he was serving as Professor, Department of Biochemistry, University of Delhi.
A senior official said there were complaints of certain irregularities against the Director and a ministerial inquiry in this regard was also held recently. — TNS
