Hyderabad to host 2018 world IT congress

Hyderabad, January 18
Hyderabad will host the World Congress on Information Technology in the first half of 2018. This would be the first time that the global event will be held in India.
During the biennial conference, the global IT industry will focus on the theme ‘Future of enterprises’. The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) and Telangana government would jointly host the prestigious event. The representatives from IT industry in 80 countries will take part in the conference to be held under the aegis of the World IT Services Alliance (WITSA).
Over 2,500 delegates and top IT honchos from across the world would participate in the event, Nasscom president R Chandrasekhar said.
Apart from boosting ‘Brand Hyderabad’, Chandrasekhar pointed out that the event has potential to attract massive investments into the state and create jobs.
Telangana Minister for Information Technology KT Rama Rao said the state government would initially commit $1 million for the preparation of the event, which would mainly involve creation of infrastructure. This apart, it would also request the Union Government to co-host the event.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that by the time the conference would get underway, 4G technology would be rolled out in the city and Telangana would be a power surplus state.
