IIT-K student alleges rape by IAF officer

An IIT-Kanpur girl student has accused an Indian Air Force officer of raping her repeatedly after promising marriage.  She alleged in an FIR lodged on Wednesday that she was raped by the officer at the girl’s hostel of the institute, Circle Officer (Kalyanpur), Navin Kumar Singh said. 

The girl has named Sitanshu (IAF officer), a resident of Bihar’s Saran district, his friend, sister and brother-in-law. Singh said investigation is on, however, no arrest has been made.

The girl will be produced before the magistrate for recording her statement. She claimed that she had come close to the IAF officer  through Facebook about a year back and remained in constant touch with each other.  A few months back, Sitanshu proposed marriage and started visiting the girl’s hostel at IIT-K and allegedly raped her repeatedly, the CO added. —PTI
