Notwithstanding the October 1 deadline to submit Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) on reducing emissions, India could declare it on the next day with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi providing “a very good opportunity”, a top official has said.
“Certainly we will be declaring the INDCs. October 2 is the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who himself was a passionate believer in sustainable development. That itself might be a very good opportunity for us to declare our INDCs at that time,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup said yesterday.
