Patna, December 24
Janata Dal (United) lawmaker Shyam Bahadur Singh, who represents the Barharia assembly constituency of Siwan, today resigned from the party’s primary membership, claiming that the local administration was not paying heed to his public grievances.
His resignation is yet to be accepted by state party chief Bashistha Narayan Singh, who is in Delhi. “Land mafia has been encroaching upon a closed sugar factory in Panchrukhi, Siwan. The locals who protested have been implicated in false cases. More than 200 people have been dragged into the case so far. I had approached the district administration but my voice remains unheard,” Singh said.
He added: “I have good relations with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. If he steps in and gets the cases withdrawn, I will withdraw my resignation.”
