Kolkata, May 1
Paying scant regard to the Supreme Court, Justice C S Karnan, the Calcutta High Court judge facing contempt proceedings, on Monday issued an order “setting aside” the order passed by the apex court against him.
Seven judges of Supreme Court led by the Chief Justice today ordered for Karnan’s psychiatric evaluation in Kolkata and directed the West Bengal police to assist the medical team in this matter.
In the order passed today, Karnan retaliated against the seven Supreme Court judges (who passed the order against him) by asking for their psychiatric examination at AIIMS, New Delhi, and asked the police chief of New Delhi to offer assistance in this regard.
Karnan had on April 13 issued a suo-motu judicial order against Chief Justice of India J S Khehar and six other Supreme Court judges asking them to appear before him at his residence by 11.30 in the morning on April 28 for violation of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Atrocities Act by them.
When the SC judges did not show up, Karnan “reposted” the case for today (May 1).
