Kota, October 14
A 16-year-old medical aspirant from Bihar has allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Chambal river and left a 10-minute video message as a “dying declaration”.
Aman Gupta, a Class 11 student from Radhopur in Bihar, jumped into the river from the Hanging Bridge on Thursday afternoon. Before taking the extreme step, Aman made a video with his mobile phone at the bridge apologising to his parents for not being able to do what they had expected of him. He has appealed to his brother to fulfil his parents’ dreams.
The body was recovered by a rescue team and divers around 7 pm on Thursday. His father Sueep Gupta, a teacher, is likely to reach Kota tomorrow to receive the body, the police said. This is the 14th suicide case by coaching students this year in Kota since January. — OC
