Bihar today claimed to have formed the world’s longest human chain with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, political leaders, cutting across party lines, and citizens, including schoolchildren, held each other’s hand to reaffirm commitment towards liquor ban.

The CM began the human chain by joining hands with RJD supremo Lalu Prasad on the one side and state Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary on the other side for 45 minutes from 12.15 pm to 1 pm at the Gandhi Maidan.

Thanking citizens, the CM said over 3 crore people participated in the human chain (covering a distance of 11,292 km), which was beyond expectations, and asked the Guinness Book of World Records to take notice of the mammoth gathering.

“With the mammoth event, Bihar has laid the foundation of social change. It will signal a message to the entire world in support of the prohibition and intoxicants. I hope unity and enthusiasm of people would continue further in support of the prohibition policy,” said the CM. (With agency inputs)
