Naidu’s diplomatic outreach at NAM

India today reiterated that stability and prosperity will come to Afghanistan provided the gains of the past 18 years, especially the constitutional order and the rights of women, children and minorities, are preserved.
The observation by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu came during his meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on the sidelines of the ongoing Non-Aligned Summit at Baku, Azerbaijan, in the backdrop of developments of a fresh push to engage the Taliban for talks with a round scheduled in China next week.The Vice President emphasised that India and Afghanistan enjoyed close and friendly relations and added that people-to-people exchanges provided strong foundation to the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Stressing India wished to see a “stable, united, inclusive and prosperous Afghanistan, he assured New Delhi remained committed to work closely with Afghanistan government in development of partnership as per the latter’s priorities.
