It was ‘ghar wapsi’ for former union minister Beni Prasad Verma, 75, who returned to the Samajwadi Party fold on Friday saying he felt neglected in the Congress
Considered to be a close associate of Mulayam Singh Yadav and a Kurmi leader of some standing in Lucknow, Beni had quit SP just before the 2007 election due to the ascendancy of Amar Singh
He had joined the Congress on the eve of the 2009 LS election where he gained the confidence of Rahul and found a berth in the Union Cabinet
