Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced free electricity for domestic consumers using up to 200 units a month. The relief came into effect from Thursday.

“For those using between 201 and 400 units every month, 50 per cent subsidy on electricity bills will be allowed,” the CM announced.

Kejriwal said when his government was formed four-and-a-half years ago, the electricity sector was in a complete mess. Today, electricity consumers were getting 24x7 power at the cheapest rates in the country, discoms’ financial health had improved, electricity infrastructure had been strengthened and people no longer needed inverters and generators, he claimed. — TNS
