NTA to conduct NEET, JEE (Mains) twice a year

Promising a “fair, transparent and flexible” entrance examination system for students, the Centre on Saturday announced that from 2019, the newly set up National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) in the online mode twice a year.
HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said the NTA would be conducting various entrance exams for higher educational institutions from the next session and its first test will be NET, the qualifying test for those aspiring to take up teaching in higher educational institutions.
He said these exams will be more secure and at par with international norms. There would no issue of leakage and the system would be more student-friendly and scientific.
The students can visit computer centres from August-end to prepare for the tests and the examination will be spread over five days, from which the students can choose the date according to convenience.
The NTA will also conduct two other examinations, the National Eligibilty-cum-Entrance Test Common Management Admisison Test (CMAT amd Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT).

2 chances for students
- National Testing Agency will hold exam in February and May for NEET; and in January and April for JEE (Mains)
