Olympian Poonia is Cong candidate from Jaipur Rural

The Congress today fielded international gold medallist in discus throw and a three-time Olympics participant Krishna Poonia from the Jaipur Rural Lok Sabha segment.

Krishna's name was part of a fresh list of nine LS candidates Congress released tonight. Out of nine candidates, the list features six from Rajasthan, one from Gujarat and two from Maharashtra.

The Congress has fielded Mohan Joshi from Pune, a seat which the party's tainted leader Suresh Kalmadi used to represent in Lok Sabha for long.

Poonia is the current MLA from Sadulpur constituency in Rajasthan. She played in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. In the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, she won a gold medal.
