Jaipur, October 19
The Rajasthan Government has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court against the acquittal of actor Salman Khan in two chinkara poaching cases, which date to 1998.
Additional Advocate General of the Rajasthan Government Shiv Mangal Sharma said the SLP was filed on Monday.

Expecting its admission in the near future, Sharma said the state government had pleaded that the Rajasthan High Court’s decision acquitting Khan was not justified and it was a fit case for SLP.
On July 25, the Rajasthan High Court had absolved Khan of the two cases citing lack of evidence.
Two separate cases had been registered against Khan under Section 51 of Wildlife Protection Act for poaching a chinkara in Bhawad village on 26-27 September, 1998, and two chinkaras in Mathania (Ghoda Farm) on September 28-29, 1998.
