Lucknow, January 3
Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs (Independent) Hardeep Singh Puri (65) filed nomination papers for a Rajya Sabha seat from UP today.
Puri has property worth Rs 22 crore, including an apartment in Switzerland in the name of his wife who is currently the Assistant Secretary-General at the UN. In the affidavit filed along with his RS byelection nomination, Puri disclosed property worth Rs 15 crore in New Delhi and Gurgoan in his and his daughter’s name. Though the liquid cash reported was only Rs 15,000.
Puri is to occupy the seat that fell vacant after then Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar quit to become the Goa CM. Arriving to file his nomination accompanied by CM Yogi Adityanath and BJP state chief Mahendra Nath Pandey, Puri declared he was proud to be representing the state that had a right political, cultural and historical legacy. — TNSk
