PVSM for 19 Army officers
Chandigarh, January 25
The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, (GOC-in-C), Army Training Command (ARTRAC), Lt Gen Sanjiv Madhok, a Guards officer of December 1975 seniority, is among the 19 top Army officers who will be conferred the Param Vashisht Seva Medal (PVSM) for distinguished service. Vice-Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Philip Campose, a Mechanised Infantry officer of the 1974 seniority who had also served as the GOC-in-C, Western Command earlier, and Lt Gen Manvendra Singh, a Guards officer presently serving as the Commandant of the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, are among other officers of the region to be awarded the PVSM.
Lt Gen RP Shahi, a Guards officer posted as the General Officer Commanding of the Ambala-based 2 Corps, and Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi, an Armoured Corps officer who recently moved as Chief of Staff of Headquarters Northern Command after serving as the GOC 9 Corps, Yol, have been awarded the Ati Vashisht Seva Medal (AVSM).
Lt Gen BS Sachar, Chief of Staff of ARTRAC and Colonel of the Punjab Regiment, has been awarded the AVSM.
