Moments after Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made a statement in the Lok Sabha on Monday saying the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited had confirmed the receipt of several contracts she detailed in the House on Friday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi levelled a fresh charge at the government saying the HAL had no money to pay salaries.

In a tweet a while ago, Gandhi said that in the absence of salaries top HAL engineers would be forced to move to Anil Ambani’s venture since Ambani had Rafale.

This, Gandhi said, despite Finance Minister Arun Jaitley explaining in the Lok Sabha last week that offset partners didn’t have to manufacture Rafale jets which would come from France in flyaway condition.

“That HAL doesn’t have enough cash to pay salaries isn’t surprising. Anil Ambani has Rafale. He now needs HAL’s brilliant talent pool to deliver on his contracts. Without salaries, HAL’s best engineers & scientists will be forced to move to AA’s venture,” Gandhi said tagging #SaveHAL.
