New Delhi, June 29

Congress president Rahul Gandhi took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday on the issue of black money retrieval amid reports of 50 per cent jump in Indian money in Swiss accounts.

In a tweet today, Gandhi said, “2014, HE said: I will bring back all the “BLACK” money in Swiss Banks & put 15 Lakhs in each Indian bank A/C. 2016, HE said: Demonetisation will cure India of “BLACK” money. 2018, HE says: 50% jump in Swiss Bank deposits by Indians, is “WHITE” money. No “BLACK” in Swiss Banks!”

Earlier today, the Congress attacked the BJP for poor state of the economy as the rupee’s value fell to all time low.

Congress spokesperson RPN Singh blamed the government for “messing up the economy and wreaking havoc on it with poor policy management”.

The Congress has always held that demonetisation was “legalised loot and plunder” and that it did not deliver any of its stated objectives, including purging the economy of black money.

This “legalised loot” phrase was used by former PM Manmohan Singh first.
