At his aggressive best today, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for wearing a super expensive “Rs 10 lakh suit” for a meeting with US President Barack Obama recently, playing up the PM’s act as “anti-poor”.

“Did you get Rs 15 lakh each the BJP had promised you from the black money which it was to retrieve after coming to power? You got nothing but the PM is wearing Rs 10 lakh suit,” exclaimed the Gandhi scion while addressing a 3,000 strong gathering in the Muslim-dominated Seelampur segment which Congress’ Mateen Ahmed has held four times consecutively. Over 65% voters of this area are Muslims. Slamming the ruling dispensation as pro-capitalist and anti-poor, Rahul, at his first public rally in poll bound Delhi (he had a road show day before), also hit out at the Government for trading Indian interests through the recently struck Indo-US nuclear deal.

“What has Modiji done in seven months? Has he done one bit except travelling abroad and inviting the US President for the Republic Day ceremony? And what did we get? A nuclear deal in which our government and not US suppliers will pay up in case there’s a nuclear disaster,” said the leader, attempting to paint the Government as high on decibels; low on substance.

Nuclear deal not in our favour, says Cong VP
