Rajasthan notifies 4% reservation for people with disabilities

Jaipur, January 30
Rajasthan government has announced 4 per cent reservation for people with disabilities in government jobs and educational institutions, a top official said on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s government notified the state-specific reservation, enacted under Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2018, in the state gazette on January 24,
Social Justice and Empowerment Department's Principal Secretary Miss Shuchi Sharma said on Wednesday. The notification says the reservation came into effect on January 24.
The state government will also institute a disability advisory board, a district committee, and a committee for protection of rights, the official said.
The advisory board will comprise five experts. Among other related proposals is a special court with public prosecution facilities for people with disabilities in the state.
The state so far had 3 per cent reservation for people with disabilities.
