Rajiv Jain to be new IB chief, Anil Dhasmana to head RAW
New Delhi, December 17
Jharkhand cadre IPS officer Rajiv Jain is the new chief of Intelligence Bureau (IB) while Anil Dhasmana will head external intelligence agency RAW.
Both appointments were made on Saturday. Their tenure is two years.
Jain is currently serving in the IB as special director and will take over from the current head, Dineshwar Sharma, on January 1.
A recipient of President's Police Medal, the 1980-batch officer has served in various departments of the IB, including the sensitive Kashmir desk. He was advisor to the previous NDA government's interlocutor on Kashmir KC Pant when talks were held with separatist leaders like Shabbir Shah.
Anil Dhasmana will take over Research and Analysis Wing, an organisation that looks after the external intelligence of the country, from current head Rajinder Khanna, who also completes his tenure on December 31.
Dhasmana is a 1981-batch officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre and has been associated with the RAW since the past 23 years. He was handled important desks such as Pakistan. PTI
