Rakhi Sawant to contest against Maya

Rakhi Sawant would contest against Mayawati in Uttar Pradesh elections, said Republican Party of India chief Ramdas Athawale during a press conference here today.

Keen on an alliance with the BJP for the UP poll, Athawale said his party could effectively mop up the Dalit votes in the state. “The 23 to 24 per cent Dalit votes in UP can easily come to us. We will do well and we should be able to contest at least 20 seats in alliance with the BJP in UP,” said Athawale, MoS Social Justice and NDA ally in Parliament.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
