Rehana Rayaz Chisti was on Tuesday appointed president of Rajasthan Mahila Congress replacing Shakuntala Rawat.
Rehana (55), who hails from Kerala and now lives in Churu, was secretary in the Pradesh Congress Committee during Dr Chandrabhan's tenure as president and was also active in the Youth Congress.
AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi made her appointment in Delhi after recommendations of a selection committee which interviewed a number of candidates last year.
Outgoing state women Congress chief Shakuntala Rawat, also an MLA, has been elevated as general secretary of the All India Mahila Congress.
