New Delhi, June 11

In an overdrive since Maggi noodles tested positive for high levels of lead, the FSSAI today said Restless energy drink available in markets is unsafe and will be recalled.

Withdrawing the no objection certificate given to the drink on December 16, 2013, the food regulator said, “It was observed by our scientific panel on functional foods, nutraceuticals, dietetic products and other similar products in its meeting that irrational combination of caffeine and ginseng in products has opposing effects on humans. So, the committee recommended rejection of all products with such combination. It has been found on scrutiny that your product also contains the said formulation. Therefore, the NoC granted to you is being withdrawn,” FSSAI said in a letter.
