Hyderabad, October 31
The Hyderabad HC today directed the Andhra Pradesh Government to disclose whether top Maoist leader Akkiraju Haragopal, alias Ramakrishna, is in police custody.
Ramakrishna, central committee secretary of the banned CPI (Maoist), has been missing since the fierce encounter with the police last week in Malkangiri district of Odisha in which over 30 Naxalites were killed. With the questions being raised over his whereabouts, Maoist sympathisers and human rights activists have alleged that he was in police custody and demanded that he be produced in the court.
