New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha Television (RSTV) on Monday crossed the 2 million mark in terms of YouTube subscribers, emerging as the sixth fastest expanding channel in the country. The channel, which mainly broadcasts proceedings of Parliament's upper house, acquired over 1 million subscribers in less than eight months since June last year. "This amounted to an addition of 4,310 subscribers a day," said an official. RSTV had a subscriber base of 4,25,622 in August 2017. TNS
Now, women can work in underground mines
New Delhi: Women have been allowed to work in underground mines, and would be deployed in open cast mines during night hours also, as part of government's efforts to create more job avenues for them. The labour ministry has issued new rules permitting women to work in opencast mines from 7 pm to 6 am. Earlier, it was restricted under Mines Act, 1952. According to the statement, the owner of a mine may deploy women between 7 pm and 6 am in any mine above ground. In the case of underground mines, women can be deployed between 7 pm and 6 am in technical, supervisory and managerial work where continuous presence may not be required. PTI
