Scolded by Yogi, Dalit MP complains to PM
Lucknow, April 5
Dalit MP from Robertsganj in Sonbhadra district Chhote Lal Kharwar has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing CM Yogi Aditynath of refusing to listen to him, scolding him and getting him thrown out of his office.
The disgruntled MP has not spared BJP state president MN Pandey and another senior BJP leader Sunil Bansal either, alleging discrimination at the hands of his own party members because he is a Dalit. Kharwar has shot off a letter to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Alleging that his opponents in Chandauli district are being given more importance by senior party leaders, the MP from the Naxal-hit district, in his letter, says his land has been shown as “encroached forest land” by the administration.
“I have exhausted all options and met top leaders with my complaints, but no action has been taken. You can check at the local level and find how I am being treated by officials,” the letter reads.
Two days ago a businessman had similarly complained that Yogi had flung his file when he approached him against MLA and murder accused Amanmani Tripathi for encroaching on his land. Tripathi is the son of former minister Amarmani Tripathi and Madhurima Tripathi in jail for murdering poet Madhumita Shukla.
Ironically, days after taking charge, Yogi had announced an anti-land mafia task force. The recently passed UPCOCA also claims to rein in the mafia. — TNS
