New Delhi: In a setback to Amitabh Bachchan, the Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld a plea by income tax authorities challenging the Bombay High Court order that permitted the mega star tax relief in earnings made from ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC). It set aside the August 28, 2007 order of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal and the August 7, 2008 order of the High Court. The matter relates to the assessment order passed on March 30, 2004 in respect of the star’s income from the popular quiz show KBC in 2001-02. IANS
Sanitary supervisor amassed Rs 3 crore
Hyderabad: Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau has unearthed assets worth over Rs 3 crore allegedly belonging to a sanitary supervisor of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation here. A case of disproportionate assets has been registered against V Krupadanam, who joined as a sweeper and was acting as a sanitary supervisor by producing fake educational certificates. Searches revealed two houses, seven plots, 12 acres of agriculture land, net cash of Rs 1.30 lakh, bank balance of Rs 3.80 lakh, 500 gram gold and 500 gram silver. PTI
