Patna/Khagaria, December 20
Seven coaches of Katihar-Amritsar Amrapali Express derailed in Bihar's Khagaria district in the wee hours of Sunday.
There has been no reported casualty.
Seven coaches of 15707 UP Katihar-Amritsar Express — an AC-2, one AC-3 and five sleeper coaches — jumped the track in between Patraha and Gouchari at 1.15 am, Arvind Kumar Rajak, Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway, said.
Railway authorities were investigating the accident.
The coaches affected were A1, B1, S5, S6, S7, S8 and S9.
Some six trains, among them the New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, New Jalpaiguri-Danapur Capital Express and Anand Vihar-Jogvani Seemanchal have been diverted due to the accident.
Sonepur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) BK Aggarwal said a 68 cm of track was found broke, a possible cause of the accident. Both police and railway authorities ruled out Maoist involvement.
Police are assisting Railway authorities in relief operations.
The remaining coaches of the train were taken to Barauni to complete the journey.
