Jaipur, July 8
Seven persons, including a toddler, were killed and 20 others injured when an “overloaded” Rajasthan Roadways bus collided with a dumper carrying construction material at Tabiji, 10 km from Ajmer, on Sunday.
The collision occurred around 10.20 am. The bus was on its way from Pali to Bharatpur via Ajmer. The deceased were identified as Arun, Tarachand, Dilip Singh, Nayara, Zishan, Shabid (bus conductor) and a one-year-old girl, the District SP Rajendra Singh Choudhary said.
The dumper was seized, but its driver and attendant fled the scene. The injured, many of them seriously, were admitted to JLN Hospital, Ajmer. Rajasthan School Education Minister Vasudev Devnani visited the hospital. The Ajmer administration announced Rs 50,000 as compensation for the families of the deceased.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Pradesh Congress Committee president Sachin Pilot expressed grief over the loss of lives in the accident.
