New Delhi: To check misuse of matrimonial websites, the government wants them to mandatorily authenticate users with true copies of identity and address proofs, check posting of obscene materials and guard against becoming dating platforms. IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday approved an advisory on functioning of the websites, which will give details about set of rules they need to follow to check abuse on their platforms, sources said. The websites will need to “confirm that the user information is correct ” when they join the platform. PTI
e-visa for foreigners joining yoga course
New Delhi: In a first, India will give tourist visa and e-tourist visa to foreigners willing to undergo short-term course on yoga in its bid to popularise the ancient practice globally. Besides, short-term yoga course will be included in Indian systems of medicine. Presently, a tourist visa is granted to a foreigner whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation and casual visit to meet friends or relatives, short duration medical treatment or casual business visit. Since its launch on Nov 27, 2014, the e-tourist scheme has been extended to 150 nations. pti
Tagore’s unpublished poems to see light of day
Kolkata: A collection of unpublished short poems written by Rabindranath Tagore is being published for the first time in form of a book. Compiled and edited by poet Nilanjan Banerjee, the gems were so far lying hidden in the archives of Rabindra Bhavana in Tagore’s abode at Santiniketan. The book ‘Knockings at my heart’ has around 81 such autograph-poems which will soon be released by Roli Books. pti
