Six members of a family, including four children, were killed after falling into a septic tank in East Champaran district of Bihar on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Dinesh Mahato, his wife and four children. They were residents of Jeetpur village of East Champaran.
In order to save a kid that fell into the under-construction septic tank, all other kids and their parents fell and died.
All of them were fished out and rushed to Chhauradano primary health centre where they were declared brought dead. The bodies were sent for post-mortem in Sadar hospital in Motihari.
“Dinesh Mahato, his wife and four children had been brought for treatment but they were found dead before we could start their treatment. The reason of their death could be revealed by post-mortem,” said a doctor of PHC.
Manoj Singh, a resident of Jeetpur said: “It is being said that youngest son of Dinesh fell into the septic tank and remaining others had jumped one after another to save him but they died.”
