Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani’s witty meme using Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman’s now famous line “I’m not supposed to tell you that” is that latest to catch popular imagination.

Irani, who’s one of the central government’s most active users of social media, shared a meme she called '#WednesdayWisdom' on Instagram. The meme contained two cartoon figures labelled Abhinandan and Pakistan, both sitting at their desks, as if they were taking an examination. 'Abhinandan' then passes on a note to 'Pakistan' that makes the latter turn and glare at him. The note reads: "I'm not supposed to tell you that".

Wing commander Abhinandan, who was captured by Pakistan when his plane was shot down during India's dogfight with Pakistan, has now become an iconic figure. His famous line “I’m not supposed to tell you that”—which he repeated to his Pakistan interrogators—has now become something of a sensation.
