Sripriya Ranganathan new Indian envoy to Korea

A 1994-batch IFS (Indian Foreign Service) officer, Sripriya Ranganathan has been appointed as the new Ambassador of India to the Republic of Korea at a time when the peninsula is preparing for historic summit talks between the two Korean leaders.
Sripriya Ranganathan is currently the Joint Secretary in MEA (Ministry of External Affairs), in-charge of territorial division of Bangladesh and Myanmar. She will replace 1992-batch diplomat Vikram K Doraiswami as the Ambassador in Seoul.
Doraiswami is expected to fly back to MEA headquarters while Ranganathan will take up the assignment shortly. The new appointments are taking place under Vijay Keshav Gokhale who took charge as the Foreign Secretary after S Jaishankar finished his extended term in January this year.
